Lethbridge man celebrates $500K lottery win

A Lethbridge man is riding high after winning big on a LOTTO MAX draw.

David Serkin won $500,000 on the August 20 draw and the kicker is, this is not his first lottery win. Over a decade ago, he won $250,000.

He says he found out about this latest win when he scanned his ticket on the Lotto Spot app. He then showed his wife and brother.

“They needed a double-take,” he says. “My wife asked if I’d won $5,000 and I said, ‘No, $500,000!’ I also showed the guys I go for coffee with and told them I would be missing our coffees for a couple days to drive to Edmonton.”

The Lethbridge man says, “it feels great” and he is looking forward to treating his loved one with his winnings. “I’m going to share it with my wife and take the guys out for dinner!”

Serkin bought his winning ticket from Circle K at 717 6 Avenue S. in Lethbridge.

He splits his prize with another Alberta winner who correctly matched the selection for a MAXMILLIONS prize in the August 20 LOTTO MAX draw: 4, 15, 20, 25, 29, 42, 43.
