Household Hazardous Waste, Electronics Recycling drop off this weekend

Spring cleaning is now happening in the fall with the city holding the Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Recycling Roundup this weekend.

The drop-off event is happening Saturday from 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the Northwest parking lot of the Park Place shopping centre.

The event, being put on by the City of Lethbridge, is a chance for people to drop off any household items with hazard symbols such as corrosive, flammable, explosive, and toxic. These items include pesticides or herbicides, cleaning products, aerosol containers and paint or solvent stain items. Used oil, batteries, and electronics can also be dropped off.

This is the second time the event has been put on this year, with the first one happening back in May. This is the third year the program will be running after being started by council in the summer of 2022. According to city officials, the program is a step forward in keeping household hazardous waste and electronics out of their curbside carts.
