Local artist Kyley Henderson’s “Isolation Series” exhibition is currently on display at the Helen Schuler Nature Centre in the Community Art Gallery until Dec.14. The exhibition showcases 27 watercolour paintings, featuring wolves in vibrant and high contrasting colours.
“I paint for my son. He was diagnosed with a dual diagnosis of Down Syndrome and Autism. My art shows fire, passion and love based on my experiences revolving around my little boy and my newborn daughter,” notes Henderson.
Some paintings are happy and carefree, adds Henderson, while others may be dark or sorrowful. “My love for my children, emotions and fear of the unknown will uncontrollably reflect in my work, which revolves around the vulnerability and beauty of the world around us.”
There will be an exhibition opening with a meet and greet with the artist from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday.
The Community Art Gallery showcases nature, science and environmental themed displays, which run for approximately six weeks throughout the year. The program is supported by the City of Lethbridge Public Art Committee and provides emerging and established artists the opportunity to exhibit in this dynamic public space.
Every year, the Nature Centre invites community members to submit expressions of interest. Artists and community groups interested in booking an exhibition should prepare an expression of interest and submit it to the Helen Schuler Nature Centre.
The expression of interest period for the 2025 gallery exhibition cycle is currently open with the deadline of midnight Nov. 14.
