Lethbridge Family Services launches annual Angel Tree Christmas campaign

The 32nd Annual Angel Tree Christmas Campaign is underway. Last week, the Lethbridge campaign was gifted just over $30,000 from its presenting sponsor Avonlea Homes.

Since 1992, the goal of Lethbridge Family Services’ Angel Tree program is to ensure every child has the opportunity to experience the joy of Christmas, notes Ron Tyslau from Avonlea Homes. “In 2023, 4,200 bundles were created for children, delivered and placed in the homes of families.”

“Through the kindness of our generous community, we have the opportunity to enrich the lives of over 4,000 babies, children and youth. Providing, not just gifts, but memories that will last far beyond the holiday season,” adds Ann Zalik, campaign chair.

For every family, Zalik notes, Christmas has its own unique traditions, treasured memories and festive delight. “We have the opportunity to come together and help create memories of happiness, warmth and love for families who need it most.”

“We give not only because we can, but because we understand the power of this shared experience. Every gift we give Angel Tree children is more than just an item, it’s a symbol of hope and a reminder that even in times of challenge, we are not alone.”

According to LFS CEO Sandra Mintz, it’s a privilege to partner with the community to help make Christmas brighter for families that need it most. “It’s such a fantastic campaign. I love it.”

The Angel Tree program is a road to hope, adds Mintz. “It’s the steward of dreams and perhaps a pathway to healing.”

Visit lfsfamily.ca for more information. Angel Trees are located at various locations throughout Lethbridge.
