‘Christmas in Space’ offers cirque fans intergalactic wonder meets Yuletide joy

On Dec. 4, step into a world where intergalactic wonder meets Yuletide joy in “Christmas in Space! A Holiday Cirque Spectacular.”

Q Productions Las Vegas presents an unparalleled cast of acrobats, daredevils and cirque performers. “Christmas in Space!” blends heart-warming storytelling with thrill-seeking theatrics.

The show utilizes mind-blowing projection mapping and interactive lasers that redefine “holiday lights.”

Fernando Quevedo, the show’s creator and producer says, the family show has a whimsical story about an alien searching for Christmas who wants to “abduct” the holiday season and bring it to his home planet and share it with the rest of the galaxy.

“All the performers represent aliens from different planets. The craziness is in the ability of pushing the boundaries of what the human body can do. These are incredible acrobats, athletes and daredevils performing in the show,” adds Quevedo. “Everything from the stratosphere aerialists to the contortionists to the acrobatic daredevils – it’s a very strong cast from former Cirque du Soleil performers, former acrobats and some stunt people joining to make this production a very unique one with a Christmas/Sci-Fi theme to it.”

This year, the production is only touring across Canada.

Quevedo notes this is a good time to experience something with the family. “We don’t join together like we used to like the old days when there was a Christmas special or show. This a great opportunity for a family to experience something.”

“Kids are going to like the colourfulness of it, the fun and some of the effects. I think adults are going to really enjoy the human element of the performances and a chance to make new memories with their family,” says Quevedo.

The show starts at 7 p.m. at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena. Tickets are available online at visitlethbridgearena.ca.
