Early voting to starts, public forum happening Tuesday in Lethbridge-West by-election

Early voting in the Lethbridge-West by-election starts Tuesday.

According to Elections Alberta, the early voting period is from Tuesday, December 10th until Saturday, December 15th, with voters being able to cast their ballot at either the Melcor Centre or University Drive Alliance Church. To be able to vote, the individual has to be 18 years old or older and be an “ordinary resident” who lives in Lethbridge-West.

According to the provincial electoral department, during the provincial general election in 2023 61.5 per cent of the 36,560 electors in Lethbridge-West cast their ballots.

Those who want to learn more about the candidates on the ballot will have the opportunity Tuesday night at the election forum in the Theatre Gallery of the Lethbridge Public Library Main Branch. UCP candidate John Middleton-Hope and NDP candidate Rob Miyashiro will be be in attendance to answer questions and share where they stand on local issues. Alberta Party candidate Layton Veverka will not be in attendance.

The forum is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

Election day to fill the seat that has been vacant since Shannon Phillips stepped down at the beginning of the summer is December 18th.
