A 58-year-old Lethbridge man has been charged with drug trafficking offenses twice in two days.
The Lethbridge Police Service says that after 7 p.m. on December 7, officers saw a man with outstanding warrants for his arrest.
He was arrested and after a search, police say they seized over seven grams of fentanyl (equal to about 70 doses, with some pre-portioned), along with a knife and cash.
The man was released after a mid-day bail hearing on December 8 with conditions prohibiting him from possessing or using drugs.
Roughly six hours later, police say they searched a home on the 200 block of 13 Street North. They say the same man was found inside and police seized 1.5 grams of methamphetamine, 10.5 grams of fentanyl, as well as drug paraphernalia including scales, baggies, and multiple cell phones.
Vincent Boyce Smith has been charged with:
- Three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
- One count of carrying a concealed weapon
- One count of possession of the proceeds of crime
- One count of failing to comply with the conditions of a release order
Smith was released after a bail hearing with additional conditions.
He is scheduled to be in court on January 23, 2025.
