International Women’s Day Leadership Conference returns to U of L in 2025

The University of Lethbridge is once again set to host a special conference.

On March 12, 2025, the post-secondary hosts the second edition of the International Women’s Day Leadership Conference.

The event will feature keynote presentations by international best-selling author, obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Jen Gunter, as well as Dr. Ranjana Sharma, NRCan Chief Scientist and senior-most scientific authority in Natural Resources Canada.

“This event is about creating spaces of engagement with phenomenal individuals who have been changemakers and have shifted the conversation around leadership and representation,” says Martha Mathurin-Moe, vice-provost of Accessibility, Belonging & Community at the U of L.

The theme for the 2025 conference is ‘Leaders Who Change the Conversation’ and is set to offer an opportunity for networking and learning.

On top of the keynotes, the one-day conference will include a panel of local leaders who will share their stories during the Lethbridge Leaders Forum.

The panel includes:

  • Kacie Bosch (BA ’20) and Paige Crozon, Olympians and members of Team Canada’s 3×3 basketball roster;
  • Staahtsisttayaaki Dr. Genevieve Fox (BA/BEd ’03, MEd ’12), Education Director with the Blackfoot Confederacy Council;
  • Su Ying Strang, Executive Director with the Maansiksikaitsitapiitsinikssin Southern Alberta Art Gallery; and
  • Simarjit Bains, Vice-President of Manufacturing at Triple M Housing.

 “Once again, we have brought together thought leaders and innovators to offer an exceptional professional development experience right here in Lethbridge, and we look forward to continuing to provide these exceptional opportunities to our community,” says the U of L’s Vice-President (Research) and co-host for the event, Dr. Dena McMartin.

Provost and vice-president (academic), Dr. Michelle Helstein says hosting this event showcases the local post-secondary’s commitment to “fostering strong connections with the Lethbridge community”.

 “This year’s conference offers a valuable platform to engage with our alumni, strengthen ties on and across our campuses, and deepen our community relationships.”

Tickets and more details about the event are available at the U of L website.
