Voting day: Residents cast their ballots in Lethbridge-West by-election Wednesday

Residents head to the polls on Wednesday for the Lethbridge-West by-election. 

UCP candidate John Middleton-Hope, NDP candidate Rob Miyashiro and Alberta Party candidate Layton Veverka are all vying to replace Shannon Phillips as the riding’s MLA. 

Phillips resigned from the position earlier this year.

Elections Alberta says preliminary figures from the advance voting period from December 10 to 14 showed that 6,669 votes were cast, with 37,096 eligible electors.

Polls will be open Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with a list of voting locations available from Elections Alberta. To be eligible, electors must be a Canadian citizen 18 years of age or older, and an ordinary resident of the Lethbridge-West (ED 72) electoral district.

Additionally, you must provide your identity and current address to vote. More information on what you need to bring with you when casting your ballot is available online.
