Follow the movie money: Taber Police lay fraud charges

A 33-year-old is facing fraud charges after allegedly attempting to use money meant for a film set.

According to Taber Police Service officials, police recieved reports from a number of that a man was using or attempting to use counterfeit $100 bills that looked like Canadian currency for purchases.

Police say the bills were poorly made and had notes on them including “THIS NOTE IS NOT LEGAL TENDER” and “THIS NOTE IS FOR MOTION PICTURE USE ONLY” along with “FILM PRODUCTION” on the back of the bill.

Police charged a Taber man on Tuesday in connection to the investigation, with charges including fraud under $5,000 and failing to comply with an undertaking. The male is scheduled to appear in court in mid February.
