A Lethbridge building company has pleaded not guilty to over a dozen charges under the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act.
Triple M Housing was back in a Lethbridge courtroom on Tuesday (Oct. 8). A lawyer on behalf of the business told the court that it’s working to schedule what will be a multi-day trial. Triple M will be back in court on Nov. 12.
The company is facing a total of 13 charges, including failure to record information in a log book about lifting devices, in regard to inspections, repairs or modifications and incidents that may affect the safe operation of such devices.
Triple M is also charged with failing to ensure overhead heavy equipment meets safety requirements, not having material restrained and failing to protect workers from falling objects.
Alberta Labour says in May 2017, a worker was cutting drywall at Triple M on the city’s north side when a steel frame fell from above. Angela Entz says she suffered a broken neck and damage to her spinal cord, and now lives as a quadriplegic.
