City of Lethbridge seasonal positions are the perfect opportunity for students looking to earn some money during their spring and summer break or for anyone looking for a change of scenery over the warmer months.
“Every spring we look to hire a number of positions to join our Public Operations teams,” says Shannon Brezina, talent development partner.
Positions available with the City include labourers in Parks & Cemeteries, Transportation Operations and Water & Wastewater teams. There are also positions available with the Waste & Environment and Helen Schuler Nature Centre teams.
Parks Operations Coordinator Erin McIlwraith says you don’t necessarily need prior field experience to work with the City. “Ultimately, we want to work with people who understand and are committed to gaining the trust and respect of our community.”
Seasonal positions are also an excellent stepping-stone into a career with the City, adds McIlwraith.
“I started my career with the City as a labourer in 2004. Since then, I’ve worked in a few positions – which led to my current full-time, permanent position,” says McIlwraith.
Anyone wanting to apply must have:
• A valid unrestricted Class Five operator’s licence with no more than five demerit points;
• A current driver’s abstract;
• High school diploma or equivalent; and
• Be able to work shifts and weekends, as assigned.
This year’s new initiative to help job seekers is a two-day job fair.
An in-person fair will take place Mar. 11 at the Cavendish Farms Centre and a virtual version Mar. 12, to accommodate job seekers unable to attend the on-site event.
