Mother Nature delivered spring-like conditions over the weekend in Lethbridge.
As a result of the temperature shift, all outdoor skating areas in the city have been closed.
Officials say weeks of colder conditions meant skating enthusiasts could hit the ice at Nicholas Sheran Lake and the Northwest and East Legacy Ponds, and ice thickness as of Friday was still at a safe level to do so.
However, water was visible as of Saturday morning, leading to the closure.
The City says although the ice might still be thick enough, they want to err on the side of caution to ensure no one gets hurt. Crews will reevaluate ice conditions today.
Officials note Henderson Lake is also closed for outdoor skating. More information on both outdoor and indoor skating options is available at the City of Lethbridge website.
