Deer shot dead, left in ditch near Pincher Creek

Wildlife officers near Pincher Creek are asking for information after someone shot and killed a deer and left the animal in the snow.

The antlered mule deer was shot with a rifle and abandoned in a ditch off Range Road 30, about two kilometers east of Pincher.

Officers believe the deer was killed sometime before 6:00 pm on Wednesday this week (Oct. 9) and say it appears no attempt was made to retrieve the animal by the person or people who shot it.

The hunting season for antlered mule deer in that area doesn’t open till November 6th.

Alberta Fish & Wildlife posted the photo and information to their Facebook page, hoping someone may know something.

Anyone with information can Report a Poacher by using an online form or call 1-800-642-3800.
