UPDATE: North Lethbridge school secured due to high-risk police incident, public asked to avoid area

UPDATE: The Lethbridge Public School Division officials say they secured the perimeter of Immanuel Christian Elementary School because of a high-risk police incident Monday.

According to a statement from LPSD, ICES initiated a perimeter secure at 12:35 p.m. and lifted it 12:58 p.m.

According to officials while the perimeter secure was in place, all outside doors to the school were locked and students were not allowed to go outside the building.

A statement from LPSD reads, “We take every precaution to ensure the safety of our students and staff, and in this case, the perimeter secure was initiated out of an abundance of caution.”
