Significant amount of meth, fentanyl seized during traffic stop

Two people are facing drug-related charges after police seized a substantial amount of meth and fentanyl during an early morning traffic stop.

According to Lethbridge Police officials, just after 3 a.m. on Monday, police pulled over a vehicle in the 3500 block of 2nd Avenue South after officers witnessed the driver commit multiple traffic violations. Police conducted a traffic stop and after they looked up the license plate officers found it did not match the vehicle it was on.

The driver from Claresholm had a Canada-wide driving prohibition and the woman was wanted on an outstanding warrant. Police searched the vehicle, where they are reported to have seized 200 doses of fentanyl, 620 doses of meth, more than 130 narcotic pills and around $1,000 cash. Police also recovered a stolen e-bike.

The 35-year-old man driving the vehicle is facing a plethora of charges including operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and also received several tickets for traffic violations.
