Coaldale Town Council collectively announces bid for re-election

Later this year Coaldale residents have the chance to vote back in the sitting town council, with all seven councillors announcing they will be running for re-election.

The group made the collective announcement Tuesday morning in a release, which also highlighted the group’s focus on key priorities including the town’s economic future, improving the quality of life in the community and ensuring all voices are represented and heard. Part of this work includes the 2025 to 2027 Operating Budget having the lowest residential and non-residential tax increases in the region, an example of the group’s commitment to responsible fiscal management.

In a statement, Mayor Jack Van Rijn states the group has been able to accomplish all they have because of a united purpose and vision for the community.

“Our collaborative work with administration has allowed us to make meaningful progress in areas such as infrastructure, residential development, public amenities, and long-term planning while staying committed to environmental stewardship and resilience,” Van Rijn says. “Our residents deserve strong reliable services without facing excessive tax burdens. By taking a measured, disciplined approach to budgeting, we’ve continued to invest in critical infrastructure and services while
keeping property taxes among the most competitive in Alberta.”

Coaldale Council includes Van Rijn, along with Councillors Lisa Reis, Bill Chapman, Jordan Sailer, Jason Beekman, Dale Pickering and Jane Abrey. The group is reported to have collectively realized the success of the past four years comes from several factors including open communication and mutual respect.

All seven will be found on the municipal election ballot on October 20th.
