Artists needed for a Public Art Mural Mentorship opportunity

A unique Public Art Mural Mentorship opportunity is open for emerging artists in the Lethbridge region, thanks to the City of Lethbridge Public Art Program.

This paid mentorship supports the development of a local artist through hands-on guidance and collaborative learning with professional Edmonton muralist Jill Stanton.

As part of an upcoming multi-part mural project at the City Centre Transit Terminal, Stanton will mentor a selected local artist in designing and executing their own indoor mural. This opportunity is intended to build capacity in mural arts for an artist looking to expand their public art practice.

Stanton is an experienced mural artist who has painted over 80 murals across North America for both private and public clients.

The mentorship includes both design planning and on-site implementation, with Stanton offering consultation and support throughout the process. The program will be divided into three key phases.

To be eligible, applicants must be an artist based in Lethbridge or the surrounding area, be available for the duration of the mentorship and be physically capable of completing a mural installation on an interior wall.

Submissions are due by May 18 and will be reviewed by a diverse selection committee, including community arts advocates, the mentor, a site representative and members of the City’s Public Art Committee.
