May is marvelous at the Lethbridge Public Library with a variety of programs and events for all ages.
This Saturday, the Main Branch hosts a Kids’ Art Show Gala, as the community’s youngest artists can show off their best work. This year’s theme is In the Garden.
“We’ve had a number of our youngest members and visitors to the library bringing by their art to display in our art show gala,” notes Communications Coordinator Jessica Quarterman.
On Sunday, the Main Branch will offer Life Skills 101 – Preparing for Emergencies to kick-off Emergency Preparedness Week with a Be Prepared. Know Your Risks presentation from the City of Lethbridge.
“This highlights a lot of different practical steps individuals and households to take to better understand their local hazards and different things that could be of issue in and around the household. To help strengthen readiness for all different kinds of emergencies and situations you might not necessarily think to prepare for,” Quarterman explains.
The Big Truck Petting Zoo returns to the Crossings Branch May 24, as families can climb aboard, meet the machines and the people behind them.
“This is something we’ve done now for the last few years,” adds Quarterman. “Our bookmobile will be there, so that’s also very exciting.”
It’s a really cool opportunity, Quarterman says, to see things up close and ask all the questions you’ve ever wanted to know about all kinds of equipment.
There will also be a Community Connections Expo May 31 at the Main Branch. Learn more about the many organizations and opportunities in Lethbridge. Connect with non-profits, hobby organizations and community groups too.
“We are currently looking for vendors to be joining us for this event,” Quarterman says.
