McHappy Day gives back to the community

On Thursday a quick stop at McDonald’s will support local organizations and the Ronald McDonald House Charity during the 31st Annual McHappy Day event.

McDonald’s operations consultant Alicia Converse says 10 per cent of every purchase made will go towards the non-profit organizations. In Lethbridge, 75 per cent of the donations will go to the Family Centre in Lethbridge, with the other 25 per cent going towards the RMHC, however in Cartson, Claresholm, Fort McLeod and Pinter Creek 100 per cent of the Donations will go to the RMHC.

“The Ronald McDonald House gives families a place to stay together with the support and resources they need to focus on what matters most, caring for their sick children,” Converse states. “The Family Centre and in Lethbridge it’s a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower children and families through programs, resources, and connections.”

Converse says according to statistics, one in four Canadians have either stayed or know someone who has stayed at the RMHC.

“So it’s across our communities, it’s far-reaching.”

She adds there will be several local figures taking part in the day, including the Bulls mascot T-Bone, members of the Lethbridge Police Service, members of the Alberta RCMP and Lethbridge and Emergency Services firefighters.
