Victory is Coaldale’s, as the Town raised over $13,000 during its Smile Cookie Challenge against its rivals the Town of Taber. Taber raised over $11,000. Both amounts will support Family and Community Support Services youth programs.
“We could never have done it without the overwhelming support we received throughout the week,” says Coaldale Mayor Jack Van Rijn. “From every individual who bought a cookie— or a dozen —to the businesses that placed pre-orders, and the volunteers who gave their time and energy, thank you. You helped us push across the finish line in the best possible way.”
The Town of Coaldale also would like to thank Taber’s Mayor Andrew Prokop and the many others from the community that chipped in to help with the challenge.
“While Coaldale may have taken the win this time, the real victory is what we’ve accomplished together,” adds Van Rijn. “Funds raised through this campaign directly support FCSS’ Youth DO Crew and Youth DO Crew Jr. Programs — initiatives that empower young people to become tomorrow’s leaders. That’s a cause we can all smile about.”
