Two southern Albertans have been charged by the Lethbridge Police Service after what was deemed a high-risk arrest.
On Monday, June 9, members of the Crime Suppression Team and Property Crimes Unit started a short-term investigation to find and arrest a man that was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants, connected to a home invasion robbery.
Police say the man was seen in the front passenger seat of a car parked in the alley along the 2500 block of 14 Avenue North. LPS notes that due to the suspect’s “violent history”, the Tactical Team helped with the arrest. As officers approached, officials say the man ran through a backyard and into the street to avoid police, but he was stopped and arrested.
The driver of the vehicle and a backseat passenger were also arrested.
The LPS then searched the car and say they found and confiscated a loaded firearm, ammunition, and a large knife.

Cole Randall Martin, a 37-year-old from Calgary, is charged with:
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm obtained by commission of an offence
- Possession of a restricted weapon
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
- Resisting arrest
- Knowingly possessing a restricted firearm
- Four counts of failing to comply with a release order
A second man from Lethbridge, 33-year-old Joshua Gilbert Eagleson, is charged with:
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a vehicle
- Operating a motor vehicle while prohibited
- Failing to comply with a release order
Both men are in custody waiting on Judicial Interim Release hearings. The LPS says the third person arrested was released without charges.
