Big Equipment Petting Zoo happening in Coaldale Saturday

The Town of Coaldale is inviting the community to get an up-close look at the big machines that help keep the community running smoothly on Saturday.

According to the Town of Coaldale’s Big Equipment Petting Zoo will be returning to the Coaldale Arena parking lot from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The event, which is free to attend, is a chance for kids to kids-at-heart alike the chance to explore and get a hands-on opportunity to look at a variety of large pieces of equipment. These vehicles include fire trucks, excavators, military transports, semis, asphalt pavers and more.

Coaldale Mayor Jack Van Rijn says the event is an educational and fun way to showcase the tools used around the town to keep the area thriving.

“It’s not every day you can hop into the cab of an excavator or meet the people behind the equipment,” Van Rijn says. “We’re proud to partner with so many great organizations to bring this experience to our community.”

Director of Operational Services for the town Terry May says along with being a great way to see the equipment used, it is also a great way for town staff and partners to connect with residents.

Along with teams from the Town of Coaldale, other groups involved in the event include ATCO, Alberta Health Services, Fortis Alberta and the Canadian Armed Forces.

The event will also include a free BBQ, games hosted by the Coaldale Public Library and a demonstration by the Coaldale Fire Department.
