Police in Lethbridge have charged a 58-year-old Coaldale man in connection with an incident where a woman was allegedly followed by a vehicle for half an hour.Â
The LPS says on June 7, a 41-year-old woman arranged to meet a man who had agreed to buy an item she was selling online. The man had asked for the woman’s address, but it was not provided and the pair instead agreed to meet in public at the intersection of Fern Crescent and South Parkside Drive South.Â
Police report that after the transaction was made, the woman started to walk away down an alley. She then reportedly spotted the man’s vehicle driving past and as she left the alleyway, notice the car was by a residence in the area. As she continued walking to the end of the block, the man started driving very slowly. Police say the woman continued walking, making different turns along the way, and reportedly saw the man in the vehicle at different spots throughout her walk before she was able to lose him.Â
She told police that she believes she was followed for about 30 minutes. The woman reported the incident to the LPS, with the suspect eventually identified and arrested.Â
Abraham Feher Neudorf, a 58-year-old from Coaldale, is charged with criminal harassment and watching and besetting. He was released from custody with conditions and is scheduled to be in court on June 30.Â
SAFE EXCHANGE ZONEÂ
The LPS has a ‘Safe Exchange Zone’ in the front parking lot of the police station, which they say can help ensure that online transactions are made safely. Two parking stalls are labelled in the zone, and the area is monitored by video surveillance.Â
