Lethbridge officer conditionally discharged following guilty plea to assault

A police officer has been conditionally discharged after pleading guilty to assault in connection with an on-duty incident.

Chris Stock, who has been a member for 23 years, pleaded guilty in a Calgary Court of Justice and received a conditional discharge, including one year of probation.

The officer was charged in connection to an incident that happened on May 13th, 2023 in the LPS Short Term Holding Facility. The physical altercation took place when a male prisoner was being booked into cells, but did not result in any injuries.

The conditional discharge is because a finding of guilt is made but because no conviction was entered, according to police when the probationary period of the discharge is removed from the individual’s record after a set time.

An internal investigation into the incident also is going forward.
