Property owners in Lethbridge have just under a week to submit their 2025 property tax payments. The due date is Monday, June 30.Â
The City of Lethbridge is advising residents to avoid sending their payments by mail due to the possibility of a postal strike. Below are different payment options:Â
- In-person: cash, cheques and debit card payments are accepted at City Hall from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; however, credit card payments are not accepted.Â
- Residents can pay directly at their bank. The City will accept the teller stamp date as the date of payment received.Â
- Online or telephone payments can be made using the 13-digit roll number in the top right of a tax notice. Payees are asked to select ‘Lethbridge (City of) Taxes’ option.Â
- Online payments with a credit card can be made at lethbridge.ca/pay. E-transfers are not accepted as payment.Â
- Cheques or money orders can be mailed or dropped off at City Hall.Â
Residents are asked to not send cash by mail and instead use the secure mailbox at the front doors of City Hall, or the drive-through drop box in the traffic circle behind City Hall.Â
The City notes that penalties will be applied to all outstanding balances as of July 1. Late payment penalties will not be waived because of any postal service disruptions or if a property owner does not receive their tax notice. Â
For anyone who has recently bought property in Lethbridge and has not gotten a tax notice, proof of ownership will be required when contacting 311 or visiting City Hall for a copy.Â
Property owners can also sign up for the monthly Tax Instalment Prepayment Plan. This offers a one per cent monthly discount on the credit balance. The City says sign-up for the 2026 property taxes is available for owners whose 2025 taxes are paid in full. Property owners are advised to sign up before July 21.Â
Owners can also register to get their future property tax notices by email or view their 2025 property tax notice online through Lethbridge’s MyCity service.Â
