Man charged in connection with alleged stalking incident

Police in Lethbridge have charged a man from Wetaskiwin in connection to an alleged incident of stalking.

On the evening of June 25, the LPS says a 47-year-old woman was walking in the area of the 100 block of 3 Avenue North when she spotted a man in a truck drive past her.

The woman did not know the man.

Police say he circled around, returned to where the woman was, left the vehicle and tried to solicit her. The woman continued walking and LPS reports the man got angry when she would not get into his vehicle.

As she continued walking, the suspect allegedly resumed following her in his truck.

The woman then went to a nearby business to ask for help. Police say the suspect parked at the business while the woman was inside but left the area just before police arrived.

He was later found, and police say he had outstanding warrants for his arrest and was arrested without incident.

James Alfred Finch, 51, is charged with criminal harassment and watching and besetting. Finch is scheduled to be in court on August 18.

MAY BE ADDITIONAL VICTIMS

The LPS says they have evidence to believe the reported incident on June 25 was not an isolated one, and there could be additional, unidentified victims.

As part of the investigation, police have shared a photo of the suspect and his vehicle, a 1999 silver Ford F150 with a dark topper.
