Body armour seized by Taber Police

A 42-year-old man is facing charges connected to an alleged dangerous driving incident.

According to Taber Police Service officials, around 11:45 a.m. on July 25th, officers attempted a traffic stop on the suspect who was allegedly known to have outstanding warrants. The driver took off at a high rate of speed into the opposite lane of traffic, fleeing from police. Police report the driver almost caused a collision when he attempted to turn northbound onto Highway 36.,

Police say they did not follow the suspect due to public safety concerns.

A statement from Taber Police reads, “An officer, in an unmarked vehicle, observed the vehicle on 80 Avenue. When the vehicle pulled into a farmer’s field, another traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was taken into custody without incident.”

When police searched the vehicle, they seized a ballistic helmet and body armour that the suspect did not have a licence for.

The 42-year-old man from Taber is facing charges for fleeing the police and for the seized body armour.
