City gathering feedback on future of 5 Street South

Lethbridge residents are invited to share their thoughts on the future of 5 Street South.

The City says it is in the early stages of planning improvements to the road, between 1 Avenue South and 6 Avenue South.

To gather feedback, an online survey has been launched. It includes questions about what elements matter most, parking and other popular themes about the downtown corridor.

The survey is open until August 26, with results set to be considered in the next stages of the planning process.

REIMAGINE 5 STREET SOUTH

This is all part of the ‘Reimagine 5 Street South’ project, which is currently in the Preliminary Design phase. There is no construction planned just yet.

Currently, the City is conducting environmental and geotechnical assessments, gathering public feedback, and defining the scope of the project, as well as the design, budget and timeline for a future review from City Council.

The planning process is expected to be done in 2026.

The survey can be accessed here.
