Both of Lethbridge’s food banks are asking for your help.

This summer, the Interfaith and Lethbridge food banks have been collecting and distributing water bottles to the community’s vulnerable population.

The water drive is in its final stretch and is set to wrap up on August 31.

Danielle McIntyre, the executive director of the Interfaith Food Bank, says as of Tuesday, August 12, both food banks are out of water and funds for purchasing the bottles.

“We are making an urgent cry to the community for support, as the heat has hit in full force and we need donations to avoid heat emergencies for those who are unable to get out of the sun,” she says.

Distribution partners for the program include outreach teams from Community Links, the Downtown BRZ, Streets Alive, Sage Clan Patrol, Diversion Outreach (or DOT), the Canadian Mental Health Association, MyCityCare, and Recovery Alberta.

Water bottle donations can be made at both the Lethbridge and Interfaith food banks.
