Accidental drug poisoning claims two lives in Lethbridge

Two lives were lost to accidental drug poisonings in May. 

According to the Alberta Substance Use Surveillance system, this is the highest number of accidental fatal drug poisonings reported in 2025. Between January and May of this year, there have been four deaths reported from accidental drug poisonings, all connected to non-pharmaceutical opioids. 

In Alberta, there were 102 accidental drug poisoning deaths reported in May.
