Blood Tribe man faces second-degree murder charge

The RCMP has charged a Blood Tribe man with second-degree murder.

Mounties say on Monday, October 20, at 5:20 a.m., the Blood Tribe Police Service and Cardston RCMP were called to a home in the Moses Lake area. Officials say they had received a report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

Life-saving measures were attempted, but the 30-year-old victim, Blood First Nation resident Stone Black Rider, was pronounced deceased on scene.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation. With help from Blood Tribe Police, Lethbridge and Coaldale RCMP Police Dog Services, and the Cardston RCMP, a 20-year-old Blood First Nation resident was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
