Green cart collection shifts to bi-weekly service in November

At the start of next month, green cart collection will change slightly in Lethbridge.

Beginning the week of November 4, curbside collection of green carts will be shifted from a weekly pickup to a bi-weekly collection.

The City of Lethbridge says the seasonal approach to organics collection helps with managing higher volumes of yard waste and reduces odour during warmer months.

The bi-weekly collection will be ongoing until spring 2026.

Statistics show that over 18 million kilograms of organic waste has been diverted from the landfill since the green cart program started in Lethbridge in 2023. Officials say this averages to about 527 kilograms per household.

Meanwhile, the fall leaf collection program is currently available to help residents get rid of bagged leaves. Collections can be scheduled until November 7.
