Fort Macleod ED temporarily closed

The Fort Macleod Health Centre emergency department will be temporarily closed from 8 a.m. Wednesday to 8 a.m. Thursday.

According to Alberta Health Services, the closure is due to an unexpected clinical personnel shortage and inability to secure coverage.

During the closure, nursing staff will be on-site to provide care to long-term care residents. According to AHS, officials are working to ensure residents have access to the care they need during the closure.

EMS calls will be rerouted to Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge, and patients who are looking to access emergency services are advised to access services at Chinook Regional Hospital, the Pincher Creek Health Centre, Cardston Health Centre or Claresholm Community Health Centre.

Additionally, non-emergency health-related questions can be answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by calling Health Link at 811.
