Community spirit lights on with annual Christmas Tree Festival

Oh, Christmas trees.

From Nov. 16-19, the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation’s 31st Annual Christmas Tree Festival will light up the holiday season at the Lethbridge Trade and Convention Centre.

Last year, the Stringham Christmas Tree Festival welcomed more than 3,500 attendees and raised over $180,000 through the Gala and Auction.

CEO Crystal Elliott says Excite! Lethbridge has allowed the CRHF to expand the festival in so many ways. “We’re able to welcome more people, a wider audience, host more community programming and different events. We have a greater overall impact.”

According to Elliott, the event showcases beautiful trees, and it allows each and every generation to be able to enjoy the magic of Christmas. “And right here at home, every stage, every age and every generation.”

For the past 31 years, the anchor fundraising event continues to evolve, while raising essential funds for equipment, programs and special projects.

“This event reflects our commitment for care for every generation. The support we receive directly impacts you, me and our friends and families,” Elliott notes.

There are 23 trees this year, plus a wreath and special live auction items, adds Elliott. “This year, we’re hoping to be well over 5,000 to allow our community to enjoy it that much more.”

The new location provides easy access and easy viewing of all the beautiful trees.

“That our decorators go to all the work to put together,” says Elliott.

Elliott explains the CRHF can’t do what it does without you. “This event is one of our staple fundraisers.”

In multiple conversations Elliott has had with community members, one thing people continue to say is the festival actually starts their Christmas season each year. “To feel the magic, and Christmas spirit.”

Having the festival in the new location is ideal, as there will be plenty of foot traffic with other events happening, including Glow and a powwow.

“There’s so many more people that are going to be able to enjoy it, and that’s what makes our hearts smile,” says Elliott.

Volunteer decorators help make the season bright.
