AHS announces return of Toys for Tickets program

Alberta Health Services has announced the return of a holiday program.

If you get a parking ticket at participating AHS, Primary Care Alberta, Acute Care Alberta, Assisted Living Alberta, and Recovery Alberta sites, you will be able to pay for it by donating a new, unwrapped toy as part of the ‘Toys for Tickets’ initiative.

“This campaign is all about bringing joy to kids across Alberta,” says Nick Ternovatsky, Director of Parking for AHS. “Every toy donated reflects the generosity in our communities, and it’s inspiring to see how much people care.”

Last year, over 1,150 toys were donated across the province.

Officials note that eligible tickets must have been issued between November 7 and December 19, 2025 to qualify. Additionally, toys must:

  • Be new and unwrapped;
  • Be in their original packaging;
  • Be suitable for newborns to 17-year-olds;
  • Have a minimum value of $25.

Toy donations can be dropped off at any participating parking office during regular business hours until December 19. The donations will be distributed to hospitals and local charities in the province to offer a boost of joy to kids and families during the holidays.

 “Albertans are generous, especially when kids are involved,” says Ternovatsky.

“By working together across all health agencies, we’re giving people a simple and joyful way to give back while helping brighten the season for young patients and families in our communities.”

Officials suggest books, arts-and-crafts kits, building sets, board games, dolls and action figures, sports balls, headphones and small electronics, journals, activity books, and gift cards for grocery stores and restaurants as donation options.

A full list of participating locations is available on the AHS website.
