Coaldale to host first ‘Coffee with a Cop’ event

The Town of Coaldale is set to host its first-ever ‘Coffee with a Cop’ event this month.

On Monday, January 26, the community can meet with local RCMP members, Community Peace Officers, members of Coaldale Citizens on Patrol, and Town Council.

“Public safety is a shared responsibility, and strong relationships are at the heart of a safe, connected community,” says Coaldale mayor Jack Van Rijn.

“This event is a great opportunity for residents to have honest, face-to-face conversations with local law enforcement, learn more about what’s happening in Coaldale, and help shape how we work together moving forward.”

Coaldale’s new manager of enforcement services, Mike Numan, will be on-site to meet with residents and discuss any questions or concerns about safety in town. Numan joined the Town staff after retiring from the RCMP last fall.

“In my experience, some of the best conversations about public safety happen outside of formal settings,” Numan says. “Coffee with a Cop is about being approachable, listening to residents, and building partnerships that support community safety.”

Coffee and snacks will be provided at the event, and the Town says, depending on feedback, future ‘Coffee with a Cop’ events might be held in the evenings to accommodate more residents.

The event is from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Civic Square.
