Two people charged in Fort Macleod drug trafficking investigation

Two people face charges following a joint investigation between a trio of policing agencies in southern Alberta.

This month, the Piikani Nation RCMP received notice of possible drug trafficking in Fort Macleod. Piikani Nation Mounties teamed up with the Fort Macleod RCMP and the Southern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit for the investigation.

On Friday, January 23, a search warrant was granted and executed. Police say they seized:

  • 469 grams of suspected cocaine
  • 53 grams of suspected methamphetamine
  • 242 oxycodone pills
  • 2 tablets of fentanyl
  • 3 grams of suspected psilocybin
  • Other prescription medication and drug paraphernalia consistent with trafficking

As a result of the investigation, a 47-year-old Fort Macleod resident and a 51-year-old Pincher Creek resident each face the following charges:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, oxycodone, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and psilocybin (magic mushrooms)
  • Production of a substance (cocaine)
  • Possession of paraphernalia intending that it will be used for trafficking

Both suspects appeared before a Justice of the Peace and have been released with conditions, with their next court appearance set for February 11 in Fort Macleod.
