Two Bow Island residents charged after rural break-and-enter

Two Bow Island residents face charges after police say they attempted to sell items that were stolen during a break-and-enter online.

On January 19, the Bow Island RCMP started an investigation after a break-and-enter victim reported seeing his property for sale on Kijiji. Police say the break-in happened two to four weeks beforehand in Forty Mile County.

They report that the suspects stole several items, ranging from dirt bikes to tools and various vehicle parts.

The RCMP says the victim found the buyer of the items, and it was determined that he had no knowledge of the break-and-enter. Police say the buyer provided information to help with the investigation.

On January 25, Mounties conducted a search in Bow Island and say they found a dirt bike and a vintage hood ornament belonging to the break-in victim.

A 44-year-old and 33-year-old from Bow Island have both been charged with possession of stolen property over $5,000. The 44-year-old is also charged with possession of stolen property for the purpose of trafficking.

Both suspects have been released from custody and are set to be in provincial court in Medicine Hat on February 19.
