Care from the Heart Day Radio-a-thon returns to Lethbridge

An annual tradition returns to Lethbridge this week.

The 16th annual Care from the Heart Day Radio-a-Thon takes place in the atrium at Chinook Regional Hospital on Thursday, February 12.

The event is a fundraiser for the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation, with funds collected helping with the ongoing Bringing Hearts Home Cardiac Campaign.

Local radio stations, including Vista Radio Lethbridge’s 98.1 The Ranch FM and 94.1 CJOC, will be on-site and welcome health care professionals, foundation members and hospital staff on-air to share their stories.

The community can call 403-388-6001 to donate. Donations can also be made online or in-person by visiting the CRH Foundation office in the hospital atrium.

“Every contribution, whether big or small, directly impacts the well-being of our community, reinforcing the hospital’s ability to provide state-of-the-art equipment, world-class programs and patient care closer to home,” the foundation says in a news release.

The 16th annual Care from the Heart Day Radio-a-Thon is from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

BRINGING HEARTS HOME

The Bringing Hearts Home Campaign aims to improve cardiac care in southern Alberta, with two main projects being the construction of new cardiac care centres in both Lethbridge and Medicine Hat.

On Monday, February 10, a $1 million donation toward the campaign was announced, courtesy of the Murray Auto Group.
