Coaldale & District Handi-Ride introduces new affordable pass

Coaldale and District Handi-Ride’s new Affordable Ride Pass will start on February 16.

The pilot initiative will bundle five round trips at a discounted rate for travel within Coaldale. Each pass costs $25, and the pass will be valid for six months from the date of issue.

“This pass helps reduce out-of-pocket transportation costs for residents who depend on Handi-Ride for day-to-day mobility, whether that’s getting to appointments, running errands or participating in community life,” says Terry Roosen, president of Coaldale and District Handi-Ride.

“It’s a practical step toward improving affordability and supporting the independence of our riders,” adds Roosen.

To help build awareness, a limited number of passes will be distributed for free (while supplies last) during the Town of Coaldale’s Community Fest Pancake Breakfast on February 16.

The breakfast will run from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Coaldale Community Centre, in support of the Coaldale Community Food Bank.

“With Community Fest bringing so many residents together, we can’t think of a better event to raise awareness of the new Affordable Ride Pass,” notes Mayor Jack Van Rijn.

Handi-Ride helps residents stay connected to appointments, services and community life, Van Rijn adds. “The Town is proud to support that work through annual operating funding.”

For more information about Community Fest is at the town’s website.

After February 16, the new Affordable Ride Pass will be available for purchase at Coaldale Pharmasave until December 31.
