Home, Garden & Leisure Show offers lifestyle inspiration

Lethbridge’s Home, Garden and Leisure Show is where people go to get inspired and anticipate the return of spring.

This year’s show runs Mar. 12-14 at the Lethbridge Trade and Convention Centre.

“There’s some favourites coming back and there’s some new things,” says BILD Lethbridge and Region Executive Officer Bridget Mearns. “It’s where our community goes to meet with experts and businesses, but it’s also where our community goes to meet each other.”

HGL brings together the best of home improvement, outdoor living and lifestyle inspiration, notes organizer Marc Belisle from Meibel Consulting.

Guests can experience hundreds of vendors offering huge specials all weekend long for home projects, while connecting local businesses, industry experts and the community.

One of this year’s special guests is cooking expert Roni’s Kitchen.

“This chef has a creative holistic approach to plant-based living and is known for engaging workshops and delicious vegan creations. Roni inspires audiences with her passion and sustainable nourishing food. She will be highlighting her brand with a new book called Food Therapy, sharing insights on how food can be both healing and empowering and join her for the demonstrations we have this year,” Belisle notes.

Gardening expert Lyndon Penner brings a thoughtful and inspiring voice to this year’s show.

Penner is a passionate author and advocate, and he shares stories and insights that connect deeply with audiences seeking inspiration and personal growth.

He will be hosting daily panels, including Thistles for Gardeners, Ornamental Onions and Asters and Goldenrods.

Penner is also offering interactive planting workshops all weekend long.

According to Belisle, this year’s official charity sponsor is HALO Air Ambulance. “We’re proud to have them on board and continue the relationship.”

A returning favourite for its fourth year is the Who BILDs it Best live building competition.

In teams of two, southern Alberta high school students test their carpentry skills against the clock. Each team has 75 minutes to plan and execute a design using only the tools and instructions provided to them.

Their projects will be judged by a variety of members from the community and industry.

“We take high school kids in the dual credit program, so they’re likely to go into trades. We want to encourage and foster that,” Mearns adds. “It’s a fun event and brings a lot of energy. It’s our way, as an industry, to encourage these students to continue following that passion and trades path.”

Mearns says the community booth is another addition to this year’s event. “We know in our community there’s a real demand for non-profits to have an opportunity to connect back with our community. We have opened it to seven organizations.”

Crack the Code, Claim the Keys is also another addition to the 2026 lineup.

Attendees will have the chance to crack a multi-digit code for an opportunity to win a brand-new home valued at $589,900.
