Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services welcomes six new members

Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services is welcoming a handful of new firefighters to its ranks.

A graduation ceremony took place Tuesday morning at Southminster United Church.

Deputy Fire Chief Gerrit Sinke says the service opened about 120 applications for new recruits a year or so ago and six are graduating.

He says that means these six have walked quite a journey and have the right qualities to bring to the table, including a sense of teamwork, a sense of pride in the service, and a sense of really wanting to do the very best job possible for the citizens of Lethbridge.

The graduates recently completed 12 weeks of extensive fire fighting training as well as EMS training as all firefighters in Lethbridge are also licensed paramedics.
