More than 600 free breakfast vouchers were handed out to students at the University of Lethbridge Wednesday.
It’s part of the annual “Buy a Student Breakfast” campaign where alumni and community members donate $10 to sponsor two student meals.
Cody Thomson of PACT, a ratified Students’ Union Club, says food insecurity is a key issue on campus.
He says one in four students run out of food during their time on campus and this is one of the programs aimed at addressing that statistic.

Thomson says $1,255 was also raised in support of the new Student Pantry Project where students will be able to access food items in a variety of high-traffic areas on campus.
That initiative is expected to launch in early 2020.
