Lethbridge Food Bank receives national accreditation

The Lethbridge Food Bank is receiving national recognition for its operations and community impact.

The Lethbridge Food Bank has earned the Standards of Excellence designation from Food Banks Canada, awarded to food banks that meet national standards covering accountability, safe food handling, governance and program delivery after an in-depth review process based on best practices across Canada.

Officials said the designation reflects the organization’s commitment to providing safe, reliable and dignified access to food for individuals and families in Lethbridge and surrounding communities.

Lethbridge Food Bank president Dale Zielke said the organization is honoured to receive the recognition.

“It affirms the dedication of our staff, volunteers, donors and partners who work tirelessly to strengthen food security in our community,” Zielke said. “This recognition belongs to all of Lethbridge.”

The official certificate and recognition materials are expected to arrive from Food Banks Canada in the coming weeks.
