A Lethbridge manufacturing company is marking its anniversary by donating $100,000 to the Bringing Hearts Home campaign.
The donation from Flexahopper Plastics Ltd. will support a cardiac catheterization laboratory and expanded intensive care and coronary care capacity at Chinook Regional Hospital.
President and owner Bill Spenceley said the company has been an active member of the community over the past six decades.
“I’m proud of our team for making this significant contribution to such an important initiative,” Spenceley said.
He added that Lethbridge and southern Alberta have supported the company throughout the years, making the donation a way to give back to the region.
Founded in Lethbridge in 1967, Flexahopper has expanded from a small manufacturing operation into a company that designs and produces rotationally moulded plastic products for agricultural, industrial, environmental and commercial applications.
Despite its growth, Flexahopper remains based in southern Alberta.
The $100,000 contribution is the first in a year-long series of community announcements planned as part of the company’s anniversary celebrations. The series will recognize people, organizations and partnerships that have contributed to the company’s history.
Chief executive officer of the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation Crystal Elliott said companies don’t thrive for 60 years by focusing only on products.
“They thrive because they invest in people, relationships and the places they call home,” Elliott said.
She added that the foundation is honoured Flexahopper chose to begin its anniversary year by supporting cardiac care.
