Voting opens Friday for Kraft Hockeyville finalists

Taber is aiming to secure its spot as the 2026 Kraft Hockeyville winner as voting opens over the Easter weekend.

Voting will open at 7 a.m. Friday, April 3 and close at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 4 on the Kraft Hockeyville website.

Residents are invited to gather at the Taber Auditorium to watch the announcement live during the second intermission of the 5 p.m. Hockey Night in Canada game. Free tickets are being distributed to help organisers manage attendance because of fire‑code capacity limits in the auditorium.

Fans are encouraged to don their favourite jerseys and show their support as Taber marks its place among the last two communities in the national competition.

The event will feature a free Kraft Mac & Cheese DIY bar along with refreshments for attendees. Organisers note that photography and videography will take place as the celebration is livestreamed.

In the national contest, Taber faces Tumbler Ridge, B.C., with the winner set to receive $250,000 for rink improvements and a chance to host a National Hockey League pre‑season match.

The recognition follows a Dec. 17 explosion at the Taber Community Centre that forced the arena to close. The funding would help repair damage and restore essential programs and events.
