6th Street Block Party cancelled for summer 2026

A popular event in downtown Lethbridge is taking a break this year.

Organizers of the 6th Street Block Party have announced that after much consideration and “back-and-forth”, the decision has been made to put a pause on the event for 2026.

“This event has always been a huge labour of love for our team and something we pour a ton of time, energy, emails, creativity, chaos, and probably an unhealthy amount of caffeine into each year,” organizers stated.

“But after a few wild summers of making the magic happen, we knew we just didn’t have it in us to give the event the full block party treatment it deserves.”

Officials noted that this summer will be used to “rest, regroup, and figure out what the future of this event looks like”.

“We know this is disappointing news and honestly, we’re bummed too,” added the organizing team. “6th Street Block Party means a lot to us, and seeing downtown filled with local vendors, food, music, kids, community groups, and all you party people has been something really special. Thank you for supporting us, showing this event so much love over the years and for helping turn our downtown streets into one very good time.”

The team behind the event said the hiatus does not necessarily mean goodbye, and the decision reflects a “see [you] later while we sort some things out”.

Despite the pause, organizers still asked residents and guests of Lethbridge to make sure they give local and downtown businesses “some love this summer” and thanked all those who have supported the event over the years.

Anyone interested in receiving updates for summer 2027 can sign up for notifications on the event website.

The first 6th Street Block Party was held in 2023 in Festival Square.
