Children in Lethbridge will have two new playgrounds to check out this summer.
The City has confirmed that the playgrounds at both Cougar and Lafayette Parks are being replaced in time for the summer months.
Officials reported that the structures at each location have reached the end of their lifespan, and updates are needed. The projects will replace the aging equipment with new, CSA-compliant features that meet current safety standards.
The City added that each playground will see unique upgrades.
COUGAR PARK
Designed for kids aged two to 12, the new playground equipment at Cougar Park in north Lethbridge will bring a variety of new challenges and play experiences for local youth.
The City said crews will refresh the existing pea gravel surface, and a new solar light will shine on the southwest side of the playground.
More details about the Cougar Park project are available on the City website.
LAFAYETTE PARK
The new equipment at Lafayette Park in west Lethbridge is designed for children 18 months to five-years-old. The inclusive space will feature accessible elements and artificial turf surfacing to accommodate all users.
The City said this is the first playground in Lethbridge to have artificial turf, enhancing the park’s durability and safety.
Further information about the Lafayette Park project is available on the City website.
CONSTRUCTION
During the construction process, crews will have fencing set up around each site. Residents are asked to stay away from the fenced areas to keep themselves and workers safe. Both projects are anticipated to be finished by mid-June, weather permitting.
