A Taber business has supported the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation’s Bringing Hearts Home campaign with a $200,000 leadership gift from Summit Motors.
For the Tams family, supporting the Bringing Hearts Home campaign is about ensuring people across southern Alberta can access the cardiac care they need closer to home, especially when every minute matters.
The expanded cardiac program at Chinook Regional Hospital will enhance access to advanced diagnostics, including echocardiography, stress testing, and continuous heart monitoring, alongside interventional procedures.
Rick Tams said southern Alberta has been very good to Summit Motors and the Tams family. “When we were shown data on how much worse cardiac health outcomes are for our community and the neighbouring communities where our customers live and work, my brothers and I knew we had to give back and support this project.”
According to Dr. Sayeh Ziekle, this project will transform cardiac care for families across southern Alberta.
“Expanding services locally means patients will be diagnosed sooner, treated faster, and able to remain closer to their loved ones during some of the most difficult moments of their lives,” the doctor added.
Once fully operational, the expanded cardiac program will include catheterization and electrophysiology labs alongside comprehensive diagnostic services, significantly increasing local capacity and reducing the need for patients to travel outside the region for life-saving cardiac care.
Foundation CEO Crystal Elliott noted the campaign continues to build the philanthropic support needed to ensure this program has the “equipment, technology, and innovation required to deliver exceptional cardiac care for our region.”
